Welcome to Equine Welfare
Equine Welfare Seminars is pleased to offer the first Certificate in Equine Welfare. Seminars are designed to be accessible to everybody; If you are considering buying your first horse or if you have been working in the industry for decades – these seminars will challenge and stimulate. There is no doubt that equine welfare is a complex, ever evolving subject and needs careful analysis. The aim of these seminars is to explore and discuss the theory of horse welfare in Australia scientifically, practically and ethically. These seminars will attempt to exercise rational thinking, examining carefully how we keep, train and relate to horses.
There is great concern and effort to provide a better quality of life for horses across a multifaceted industry – are we succeeding in doing this? Or failing to observe the fundamental needs of the horse? And how do we measure these? There is always room for improvement; Horses have been kept for thousands of years and it is only recently that practices have begun to be scientifically scrutinized. It is sometimes difficult to re-examine what we have been taught and practised, particularly within an industry where tradition is valued. But one thing is certain for anyone involved with horses: You NEVER stop learning!
Choose from just one topic of interest, or study all four stages to complete the Certificate in Equine Welfare. Seminars are conveniently held over the weekend or during evening sessions. Please see the Seminars page for specific seminar content.
